Students interested in joining the Interactive, Sensing and Computing group should contact me directly.
I am actively recruiting both ECE and CSE students this cycle!
Prospective Ph.D. students interested in joining my research group should apply directly to the University of Michigan CSE and/or ECE Ph.D. programs and mention my name in your application. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan (which consists of CSE and ECE) is committed to supporting all new Ph.D. students with five years of funding through combinations of grants, university fellowships, and teaching assistantships.
I certainly welcome Masters students, but prioritize funding for Ph.D. students. From time to time I may offer an GSRA to Masters students. However, I typically first ask Masters students to work on a small project in the lab for course credit to establish fit and confirm the student’s interest in the topic area.
I had an incredible undergraduate research experience, when I was in school, that launch my career. I highly encourage and value undergraduate researchers in my lab at the University of Michigan and have a very active group of undergraduates. Student interest in working in the lab should contact me directly.
Summer research programs for both University of Michigan and for students from other universities are available through the SURE and SROP programs, and include stipends and other benefits. If you are interested, I highly encourage you to apply and contact me directly about working in my group.
The fields of Engineering and Computer Science have had a profound and transformative effect on humanity. Having grown up during the era of NASA’s Space Shuttle program and inspired by the Apollo missions I found the words of Neil Armstrong (as presented by Jorge Cham) to be particularly inspiring and relevant over the years. In the Interactive, Sensing and Computing lab we strive to create transformative and scalable technology that makes a positive impact on people’s lives through innovations in electromagnetics, sensing, wireless communication, embedded systems and Human Computer Interaction.
